In “Packing for the Future: Instructions”, written by Lorna Crozier, the author states wisely by proposing three advices that future is full of challenges, people need to prepare for their futures.

First, “There may be water”, “There may be stones”, “There may be high places”, these all represent the different situations and hardships people might face in the future.

Hence, the author suggests, “Take the thickest socks” (Line1), which means people need to prepare sufficiently when they leave for future.

The second suggestion that author proposes is bringing the small stuffs like key and photograph when people leave far away from home.

“Perhaps the key you’ve kept tough it doesn’t fit any lock you know…a ball of string to lead you out though you can’t walk back”, these stuffs might be trivial in people’s lives; however, once they are far away from home, these stuffs may help people to solve problems like losing their ways.

More importantly, “In your bag…leave room for another language”, the author advises that people should get ready to face challenges and learning new cultures.

In the last stanza, the author tells people that do not mistrust someone who will help them from the bottom of heart. These helpers are worth to trust.

Overall, there are lots of challenges in people’s lives, if they can always prepare sufficiently, be ready to face hardships and give trust to the people who really help them with hearts, and then, there will be less troubles in people’s futures.
